Soft clauses
Wording that leaves payment to a condition the seller cannot control or prove.
The pre-issuance LC review reads a draft letter of credit from the buyer's side and flags what typically leads to an amendment: soft clauses, conditions that are not documentary, an expiry that leaves no time to present. It needs no check credit.
If your supplier cannot work with the credit you opened, you pay for amendments and wait for the goods. If you sell on credit terms, the draft your buyer's bank is about to issue is the credit you will have to work with. This is the page to send your buyer.
Wording that leaves payment to a condition the seller cannot control or prove.
Requirements that no presented document can satisfy, so the seller has nothing to show the bank.
An expiry date that leaves no time to ship, collect the documents and present them.
A description that only points to another document, which the seller's invoice then has to chase.
It reviews the credit, not the shipping documents. Those are checked after shipment, in the LC compliance check.
It does not contact your bank or the seller. You decide what to change.
A clean review is not a promise that the seller will not ask for an amendment. It is not legal advice.
It does not replace the bank's examination.
The review is free to use. Open it on the importer side and upload the draft credit.
